Record your story at Congress

Every perioperative nurse has a story to tell—a story that reveals the triumphs, challenges, lessons and compassion that exemplify why perioperative nurses are the “heart” of the OR.

Congress attendees will have the chance to record these stories in the Heart of the OR-LIVE sound booth at Congress. Similar to the StoryCorps project featured on National Public Radio, Heart of the OR-LIVE is a sound-proof booth attendees can visit, alone or with a colleague, to record a story from the OR.

Start thinking about what stories you want to tell. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Share an experience in the OR that changed you
  • Say what inspired you to be a perioperative nurse
  • Tell us about someone who mentored you
  • Explain a memorable Congress experience
  • Bring a friend and share your story together

Members not attending AORN’s Congress can still share their stories by sending them in writing to aornnews@aorn.org with the subject “Heart of the OR.” AORN is also compiling a collection of stories for a book, Heart of the OR that will be released later this year and stories from the sound booth may be used in the book.

Visit the Heart of the OR-LIVE sound booth at AORN’s 2010 Congress in Denver, outside of the Hall F entrance to the exhibit floor.
