Retired Nurses SA announces PROJECT C.U.R.E. community service at Congress
The Retired Nurses Specialty Assembly (SA) is partnering with PROJECT C.U.R.E. during Congress 2010 in Denver. PROJECT C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief & Equipment) builds sustainable health care infrastructure by providing the medical supplies and equipment that medical personnel need to deliver health care to their communities.
On Wednesday, March 17, members of the Retired Nurses SA and volunteers will depart the Denver Convention Center via RTD Light Rail train (participants are responsible for covering this fare) at 11:30 a.m. for PROJECT C.U.R.E. headquarters in Centennial, Colo. Shuttle buses will take volunteers to and from the train station to the Project Cure headquarters. Once volunteers arrive they will spend the next couple hours packaging medical equipment and other materials that will later be sent to developing countries, before returning to the Denver Convention Center at 2:30 p.m. in time for Quiz Bowl and other St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
The Retired Nurses SA is hoping to find a few volunteers for the event, as well as volunteers to work as session moderators during Congress. Contact Cindy Telesz, RN, CNOR, at thebear816@comcast.net for more information on how to help. Find more information on PROJECT C.U.R.E. at www.projectcure.org.
