New in 2010

NEW - International Summit
Attend AORN’s first International Summit where you can listen, learn, and participate in discussions with national and international perioperative leaders as they address emerging issues and trends that impact the global perioperative community. This day and half program is particularly designed for the international attendee, and will cover the following topics from an international perspective; patient safety, bullying and harassment, surgical smoke, surgical scrubs and hand washing, sharps safety, quality, and collaboration. International attendees will visit AORN Headquarters and network with each other on Saturday. On Sunday, Sir Stephen Moss from the UK will discuss the importance of collaboration. There will also be two round table discussion sessions on Sunday where individuals will discuss the issues from their country’s perspective. In addition, members of AORN will provide an orientation to Congress to ensure you get the most out of your Congress experience. At the close of the session the international summit attendees will be escorted to the general session room and seated in a special section.

NEW - Two Congress Orientations (formerly First-Time Attendee Orientation)
If you are a first-time attendee or if you would like a refresher on Congress, attend one of the two Congress Orientation sessions on Sunday, March 14. Session 1 is from 8-9:30am and Session 2 is from 1-2pm.

NEW - Candidates’ Forum Back on Sunday
This year the Candidates’ Forum will occur Sunday morning from 10am- 12:30pm. You will hear the formal presentation by the Candidates. You will also hear the Candidates’ responses to questions developed and presented by the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee.

NEW - Combined Opening
Session and Individual Awards Recognition Opening Session returns to Sunday, and will include the presentation of individual awards. Join in the celebration!

NEW - Exhibit Floor Reception
Following the Jerry G. Peers Lecture, everyone is invited to celebrate the opening of the Exhibit Floor at a special reception in the Exhibit Hall! You will have the opportunity to Meet the Candidates in an informal atmosphere in a designated area of the Exhibit Hall.

NEW - No Exhibit Hours on Thursday
Attendees will have the opportunity to select another educational session from an additional concurrent session on Thursday.

NEW - Internet Café
AORN is pleased to offer an Internet Café at Congress 2010. Bring your laptop
to the Internet Café, located in Lobby D, and connect to the Internet for free! The Internet Café will feature comfortable seating and workspace so that AORN attendees and exhibitors can stay “connected” to the office, check e-mail, complete education session evaluations, and search the Internet.

NEW - Enhanced Itinerary Planner
Free MyAORNCongress: New this year, this online planning tool provides an upto- date Congress Schedule, a comprehensive exhibit guide, map generator, and more. Use MyAORNCongress to plan your route from session to session and through the exhibit hall, or as a tool for building a business case to attend Congress. Itineraries and maps can be saved, shared, and printed via your account. Your email address and AORN member ID are your log-in.
