AORN Foundation Events
The AORN Foundation is the philanthropic arm of AORN, and exists to support you — the perioperative nurse. The AORN Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational foundation, is committed to advancing surgical patient safety through funding scholarships, research projects and educational resources. Because membership dues do not fund Foundation programs, donations from AORN members, chapters, state councils, industry, and other organizations serve as the lifeblood of the AORN Foundation. Stop at the Foundation booth during Congress and become a part of the community of donors, committed to “Reaching the Peak of Perioperative Practice.” Your gift will improve the practice, image and future of perioperative nursing. While visiting the Foundation booth, you can also obtain information about the AORN Foundation’s programs and goals, as well as scholarship and grant opportunities.
AORN Foundation 12th Annual Race for Patient Safety (5k)
Tuesday, March 16, 6:30am
Location: Denver City Park
Registration Fee: $30 - includes a T-Shirt. Register now to “Race for Patient Safety!” Join your fellow Congress attendees for this fun event and start collecting pledges to support your participation. The individual who raises the most pledge dollars will win a free year’s membership to AORN. There is a runner’s class (3.1 miles) and walker’s class (1.5 miles). Awards will be given to overall male and female finishers, and to the top three finishers in each male and female age category for the runner’s class. Even if you are unable to participate as a racer, reserve your T-shirt today. Proceeds from this event support AORN Foundation programs. Registration is nonrefundable.

What’s Wrong with this Picture? Poster
The 2009 limited edition, “What’s Wrong with this Picture?” is now available to purchase in poster size. Order your poster during Congress for a fun, interactive approach to educating staff in infection prevention and safety. The cartoon reflects information on practice patterns based on the Standards and Recommended Practices book and regulatory and recommending agencies such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), The Joint Commission, and the American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES).
All proceeds from the sale of this poster will go to AORN Foundation Research. Cost: $10 (plus S&H)
